What are Cannabis Troches? 🔥
Vape it, swallow it, dab it, or toke it – there are so many ways that we consume cannabis. One of the newest cannabis products available at dispensaries for patient use are called "Troches," but what are they?Â
A Troche is a medicated throat lozenge intended to dissolve slowly in the mouth, offering temporary relief of symptoms. The word origin is French and translates in English to mean "a little". A Pennsylvania-owned and operated cannabis company called "Vytal Options” offers these new products as a faster route of administration in the form of sublingual tablets.Â
How are they used?
Troches are inserted in the mouth between the cheek (buccal), the gum, and the tongue (sublingual) and should be given time to dissolve naturally. This delivery method allows the medication to enter the bloodstream instantly from the mouth and provides a rapid onset of activity while bypassing the metabolism in the liver.Â
How long will it take to work?
Once the tablets are fully dissolved, the activation time ranges from 15 to 30 minutes. Always be sure to remember that times will vary with each individual.Â
How long will the effects of the Troche last?
Depending on the dosage, the effects of a cannabis Troche can last anywhere from 4 to 6 hours. It’s important to remember NOT to swallow or chew the tablet (unless the instructions instruct otherwise) and allow it to dissolve naturally in the mouth for best results.Â
How do the effects of Troche differ from other medicinal cannabis delivery methods?
Some patients prefer sublingual cannabis medications for their fast-acting properties that don’t last as long as other edibles. Edible concentrates can last up to 8 hours or more and can take up to an hour or longer for the therapeutic effects. As stated previously, the impact of Troches starts within 15 - 30 minutes and fades away after a few hours, providing relief for patients seeking instant results. Troches are traditionally known for also helping to reduce the feelings of nausea.Â
What does a Troche experience taste like?
When you try Troches, you will notice that the experience feels like sucking on a cough drop in your mouth. Different states and companies may offer various flavors. However, the Troches available through Vytal Options are typically either Spearmint or Flavor Free.Â
Where can I find cannabis Troches?Â
Cannabis Troches can be purchased at your local dispensary, depending on the state. Be sure to speak with the pharmacist to determine the correct delivery method and dosage for you and your lifestyle.Â
As medical cannabis legislation progresses nationwide, patients will continue to see growth in the industry. More and more patients are experiencing positive results through plant medicine. This will allow for additional medical treatment options for patients seeking alternative healing modalities through natural wellness practices.
Can these troches be melted in like tea?
I agree with Jim. The packaging is difficult to open but they deliver an above average medical cannabis experience. 4/5 stars
I think it works great as a pain reliever. I do think the packaging should be easier for people like me with limited hand dexterity. Without someone else being able to assist me to get these out, I wouldn’t be able to use this product.
